Welcome to Haunt Law
Welcome to Haunt Law, a new legal information resource dedicated to the haunted attraction industry. Whether you operate haunted houses, escape rooms, or other immersive entertainment experiences, navigating the legal landscape can be challenging. Our mission is to make legal information accessible and understandable for haunt operators, escape room owners, attorneys, insurance professionals, and others working in this dynamic sector.
The haunted attraction industry has grown tremendously over the past two decades, but legal guidance specific to this field remains scattered and hard to find. Operators must grapple with liability concerns, waiver enforceability, safety regulations that vary by state, insurance requirements, and an ever-evolving body of case law. That's where Haunt Law comes in.
"A great show stays a great show only if it survives the morning after."
What you'll find here
We're starting with three core resources, all free and all maintained on a continuing basis: a Case Compendium of the decisions that shaped haunt-industry liability, an Essential Reading list of curated articles from various sources, and a Reference Materials bookshelf of standards, codes, and the state fire marshal offices you'll need to know.
The blog will run alongside those reference resources โ original commentary on new cases, regulatory shifts, and the practical operator questions that come across our desk.
What this is not
Haunt Law is a public-interest reference. It is not a law firm. We do not represent clients, and nothing here is legal advice for your specific situation. We collect, summarize, and translate. When you have an actual problem, take what you find here to a licensed attorney in your jurisdiction and work it out together.
